SIM this pendulum

Post by Leafy »

Roberval style

Wonder what happens when it swings. Will the weights moves up and down?

They will move up and down, but not for a long time.

It is very similar to my CF tests here:

Yes, but it just shows the strength of the centrifugal force.

One weight pulling its identical twins, can it pull more than its twins weight?

If you look at the glass on that particular test. The OB weight (the larger inner weight) is about twice the CF weight (the smaller outer weight).

My findings were that the lift of the heavier weight was directly and proportionally taken directly from rotation. I didn't see an energy gain.

I see a problem with your setup Tarsier. Although the inner weight is heavier, it connected to a spring which nullified its heaviness.

It’s like having 100 pounds hanging on a spring, you can lift that 100 pounds with 1 finger. It’s not 100 pounds anymore.

I tested with and without springs. I did get the weight to lift just after 6 in some of them.

Yeah definitely we don’t want springs. I prefer mass. Springs have little to do with gravity.
