So, unwittingly, he would have provided the optimum curve to preserve the higher orders of energy generated on the weight's descent.

Frank,
Are you talking about a curve producing optimal acceleration such that gravity is increasing acceleration from the highest possible point/level*?
*ETA: @ every instance
Could you clarify that, please.
Humor is a skill not too different
than spelling or grammar. Some will never get it
No. I'm talking about a curve that will produce maximum horizontal reaction force thereby giving maximum cumulative energy compared with all other slopes.
The brachistochrone is that slope.

This was a test. You passed with flying colors, Frank.
That's more than my daughter's grammar school did.
For a parents evening they had cards printed with the
name of the school prominently displaying that error.

The brachistochrone curve is the fastest path of descent in a rigged race where point B is arbitrarily chosen yet as a function of GPE, a dead drop beats the brachistochrone hands down.

a sensible design wouldn't follow the same arbitrary trajectory of a known failure, a path used to demonstrate it won't werk.
I now realise why Sjack's Garage Wheel worked.
I always believed it probably worked and that he
just had difficulties getting it to work consistently.
I found the weird thing about his wheel was the way it
flung the weights up into the air.
What is the view of other forum members on this?
Does anyone else think it worked.
Does anyone think he was a fraud.
I've posted the above on the OU Forum.

is there any terragravitic induction on the the moon? mars? uranus?
If not, can we mine it & well, never mind. They'd probably have to raise our taxes.
I suppose you would have to call it Lunagravitic induction.
The principle is simple enough. Implementation is the problem.
Fortunately I've realised that we have a well known though poorly understood example in the classic offset gyro on its Eiffel tower. The key is the recognition that the earth reaction force is not vertical.
We had a similar situation at BRS when testing long reinforce concrete columns in the 1000 ton Amsler.
