For general discussion is a D shape block and a roller moving around it's surface.
To achieve that one could use two springs linked to the ends of the roller.
Then the springs would attach to the same pivot point on the front and back of the D block.
The process is analysing how the roller moves dependant on the pivot point.
I imagine some will stop at this point for the Spring/Roller/Spring is going all around the D block.
So how do you hold the D block on it's supporting frame?
Well that is the easy problem to resolve.
So lets look at the dynamics of the springs. The first is they will always overshoot their equilibrium.
One candidate pivot position is on the middle of the D shape [ That is a flat side and half circle curve ].
Start with the roller at the top of the D.
All the Best

Re: D Shape & Rollers
Falling and rolling is easy , climbing or raising or restoring is not , to complete the process , it the weight/roller has to get back back up though.
There are interesting chain reaction effects like dominos that are quite amusing , for instance , the domino can knock down double its own size , and a toppling domino gets more energy than is needed to knock down its neighboring domino , the domino effect can continue onwards as long as it is able to.

Its all relative.
Dominos
JB
That was amassing.
However it is all downhill from there. For they need to clear it all up.

Re: D Shape & Rollers
The double domino effect would have been very nice on that long line https://youtu.be/HzbPwXRjjxI

I don’t know why but it’s so funny at the end. Loljohannesbender wrote: ↑Tue Jan 24, 2023 4:40 pm The double domino effect would have been very nice on that long line https://youtu.be/HzbPwXRjjxI
I would trade everything to see her again, even a perpetual motion machine…
D Shape & Rollers Stage 2
To get a roller around a D shape one has to have a D shape
OK the roller is pulled up against the flat section of the 'D' and is on the top section of the 'D'.
Imaging the top section is like a small horizontal bar for an inverted pendulum.
But with a roller for a mass and springs for the rod. The flat section is now vertical.
What next?
Well it's tricky the pivot point needs to cause the roller too move along the top 'D' section and overshoot.
The roller is on the curved half circle with the pivot point at the centre of this curved 'D' section.
It dies not roll back, but gravity pulls it down to the bottom of the 'D' shape.
I wonder what happens nest?
I imagine the roll hits that extended section put on the horizontal bar in stage 1.
So we have failed again pity.
