The problem with magnetism, it is very comparable with gravity in the way the field acts.
You can "shield" magnetism, but the portion of magnetic flux that is unshielded is like a mountain. You need to ascend the gradient to go down the other side.
The way magnetism is drawn is wrong. Magnetism is more like isobars on a map radiating from the ends of the magnet.
