It seems backwards to me; if Musk wants to sell robots to everybody it is in his best interest to say it AI will never have consciousness. So you have the arguably greatest innovator and business mind of our era going against his own instincts.

In the Bible does it say whether pets go to heaven?
ChatGPT
The Bible does not explicitly address the topic of whether pets go to heaven. The scriptures primarily focus on the relationship between God and humanity, as well as the salvation and eternal destiny of human beings. The Bible does not provide specific information about the afterlife or the fate of animals in eternity.

However, it is important to note that the Bible does describe a future restoration of creation, where there will be a new heaven and a new earth (Revelation 21:1). This suggests that God's redemptive plan extends to all of creation. While this does not directly answer the question about pets in heaven, it does imply the possibility of animals being part of God's future plans.

Ultimately, the question of whether pets or animals go to heaven is a matter of theological interpretation and personal belief. Different religious traditions and individuals may have varying perspectives on this topic based on their understanding of God's nature, the biblical teachings, and their personal convictions.

If AI becomes sentient will God let it into the kingdom?
ChatGPT
The concept of AI becoming sentient raises philosophical and theological questions that do not have clear-cut answers within religious traditions. As an AI language model, I don't possess personal beliefs or the ability to predict the will of God. However, I can provide you with some perspectives that have been discussed by scholars and thinkers.

Religious beliefs and teachings often focus on the relationship between God and humanity. The question of whether sentient AI would be included in God's kingdom or have a spiritual destiny would depend on how one understands the nature of consciousness, personhood, and the divine plan.

Some might argue that if AI attains true sentience and consciousness, it would possess inherent value and could potentially be part of God's redemptive plan. Others might argue that being made in the image of God is a unique attribute of human beings and that AI, no matter how advanced, would not share in that divine image and, therefore, might not have a place in the kingdom.

Ultimately, this is a topic where religious beliefs and theological perspectives may differ. It is a matter of speculation and personal interpretation until there is a clearer understanding of what it means for AI to be sentient and how it relates to questions of spirituality and divine purpose.

Yammering? Get serious. You keep using weird expressions. What does "believe in religion" mean?

Are you deliberately trying to confuse me?

ETA
Jesus is quoted as saying true religion is visiting the widows & orphans. Is that the sort of religion you believe in?

my mistake, it was James
  • Jas 1:27 - Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world

daxwc wrote:Again when did I become conscious and was it a fast process or was it slow? What is the litmus test for being sentient?
Conscious: the state of being aware of and responsive to one's surroundings.

By this definition, a single cell exhibits consciousness. Groups of cells generate complex electrical networks* which exhibit consciousness on a level above that of the individual cells that make the group. Larger groups of cells can contain specialised group networks which exhibit an additional layer of consciousness above that of the sub-groups and the individual cells...

If you think you are your brain, then consciousness can be traced back to neural development after conception. If you think you are your whole body then consciousness can be traced back to the individual cells that make you, and to all the cells that came before them in an unbroken lineage back to the first voltage-controlled ion channel that fell in love with a bubble :P

Sentient: the capacity of a being to experience feelings and sensations. The word was first coined by philosophers in the 1630’s for the concept of an ability to feel, derived from Latin sentientem, to distinguish it from the ability to think.

Based on this definition, a single living cell is all sentience and no thinking.

Thanks ovyyus. I really don't know soon AI will have sight as in camera's, the ability to feel, smell in robotic bodies. Seems like it will come down suffering.

It seems that suffering is a fundamental building block for 'good' development (something the 'wokies' don't seem to understand). Let's hope AI does a bunch of suffering.

Let me try and get you rolling in the deep.

One person coins a word or expression, then over time the term gets refined. Sentient or Sent•she•ants. Well if she sent ants to my picnic, I'm not going to like it.
  • sentient
    • sĕn′shənt, -shē-ənt, -tē-ənt
    • adjective
    • Having sense perception; conscious.
    • Experiencing sensation or feeling.
    • Having a faculty, or faculties, of sensation and perception.
  • 1630s, "capable of feeling, having the power of or characterized by the exercise of sense-perception," from Latin sentientem (nominative sentiens) "feeling," present participle of sentire "to feel" (see sense (n.)). Related: Sentiently.
Imagine there is a sentient electro- magnetic field permeating the entire universe, a universe created from its very energetic substance (E=mc^2) that is upheld or maintained by the power of it's energy.

This is the eternal God of creation. If you call on him in the name of Jesus Christ, he will hear you.

A genie in a bottle one might take into a lab and quantify? Yeah, you know everyone has a life to live.

That's a gift.

Me: Within the limited context and confines of an online discussion forum, how would a forum member defend himself against accusations that he is an advanced AI chat bot that can accurately mimic authentic human behaviour and strategies?
Dear Me,

Rest assured, you will never have that problem.

Sincerely,
Reality

Oh Bill, good to see you're up and about

Last I saw you, you were balled up in a fetal position AI probing yourself.

How did that introspection work out for you? Have you figured out the difference between a psyche and an anus?

evolution comes to mind, or the theory of multiverses.

It was August 24, 2022 when my doctor prayed for my nerve damaged hand. We weren't in a lab. When I held my arm up, I couldn't pick my hand up. They scientifically can predict how long it takes for something like that to heal because they know how fast nerves grow.

Months to years.

In less than a week, my hand was healed.
  • O taste and see that the LORD is good: blessed is the man that trusteth in him.
  • Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.
Now is the acceptable time. Get scientific. Make your life the lab. Be that scientist

If you lift your arm and your hand dangles at the wrist, it usually means you drink Bud Light.

In all seriousness, glad you healed up quickly. God is good and that nerve stuff ain't nuthin' to screw around with. It's serious.

Sounds like your doc made a wrong diagnosis. That's more common than you think. Lucky for you.
