We are being pushed up, not held down, by gravity!

We are being pushed up, not held down, by gravity!
Hello fellow PM chasers!
Here is something interesting about gravity.
Gravity is not a force, and since there's no force pushing down on you, that means you are currently accelerating upwards.
If you are hold an accelerometer steadily in your hand, it will tell you, your accelerating upwards. This is not hypothetical. If you hold a rock in your hand, it will feels like it's pushing your hand down. That's not the gravitional force pushing it down, because gravity is not a force. It's pushing on your hand, because you're accelerating upwards.
Well those are not my words, so watch fameous German scientist Sabine Hossenfelder about the subject here:

Re: We are being pushed up, not held down, by gravity!
If i am accelerating upwards and Fletcher is too, does this mean the planet is expanding at the total of the acceleration observed on the 2 accelerometers?
Or does it mean that Fletcher and i, are resting at a constant distance from each other (diameter of the planet), and the accelerometers are recording the passaging of gravity?
Edit, passaging isn't a real word.

Hi Phj
This is Einstein’s General Relativity which describes how energy and mass affect the geometry of spacetime, causing objects to move along curved paths. The theory doesn’t stop it from being a force.
What happens if you can manipulate the curved path?
But maybe I should shut up and watch the video first.

Don't worry. Apparently you can jump off a building and you are not accelerated, so you won't go splat.
It would be interesting to hear exactly what Einstein said. I suspect it is just like Shrodingers cat, someone of intelligence says something, and people of lesser intelligence complicate and distort its simplicity.

Yeah this gravity thing, it's a complicated matter. Maybe Bessler discovered something about it, that helped him build his wheel.

Why don't scientists trust atoms?
Because they make up everything!

I trusted gravity, but when the cinder block landed on my foot...😁
Not everything I present is functional, but a surprise can't be completely ruled out.Greetings.

Hi phj
Good to see another person seeing that gravity can be seen via equivalence can be viewed a acceleration.
I is also true if this was real then the Earth would have to be expanding to cause the affect of gravity.
Then other objects like the moon and asteroids would be expanding at different rates to cause their different
gravity affects.
There is a way forward in this concept.

Reading from the accelerometer should depend if you hold an accelerometer while falling or hold the accelerometer while being supported by another object while not falling.
Its all relative.

The accelerometer is measuring the passage of space.
Either you move the apparatus through space or space moves through the apparatus.
Space moving through the apparatus, when you hold it stationary, is called gravity.

I clearly misunderstood how accelerometer measures.Robinhood46 wrote: ↑Thu Dec 28, 2023 12:51 pm The accelerometer is measuring the passage of space.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Accelerometer
An accelerometer is a tool that measures proper acceleration.[1] Proper acceleration is the acceleration (the rate of change of velocity) of a body in its own instantaneous rest frame;[2] this is different from coordinate acceleration, which is acceleration in a fixed coordinate system. For example, an accelerometer at rest on the surface of the Earth will measure an acceleration due to Earth's gravity, straight upwards[3] (by definition) of g ≈ 9.81 m/s2. By contrast, accelerometers in free fall (falling toward the center of the Earth at a rate of about 9.81 m/s2) will measure zero.
An accelerometer measures proper acceleration, which is the acceleration it experiences relative to freefall and is the acceleration felt by people and objects.[2] Put another way, at any point in spacetime the equivalence principle guarantees the existence of a local inertial frame, and an accelerometer measures the acceleration relative to that frame.[4] Such accelerations are popularly denoted g-force; i.e., in comparison to standard gravity.
An accelerometer at rest relative to the Earth's surface will indicate approximately 1 g upwards because the Earth's surface exerts a normal force upwards relative to the local inertial frame (the frame of a freely falling object near the surface). To obtain the acceleration due to motion with respect to the Earth, this "gravity offset" must be subtracted and corrections made for effects caused by the Earth's rotation relative to the inertial frame.
Its all relative.

Re: We are being pushed up, not held down, by gravity!
Are you saying it measures movement and calculates the movements relation to gravity, hence it calculates an upward acceleration of 1g when it measures no movement?
Re: We are being pushed up, not held down, by gravity!
It's and interesting question; So there is a measurement of 1g acceleration when the device is sitting on a table.Robinhood46 wrote: ↑Thu Dec 28, 2023 3:00 pm Are you saying it measures movement and calculates the movements relation to gravity, hence it calculates an upward acceleration of 1g when it measures no movement?
Saying that it's not approximately 'up', But as we have noted it's a radial from a virtual location of the centre of the Earth.
The 'up' direction may not even converge to the same location.
There are other ideas to causing gravity without there being a thing called 'Gravity'.

I think we can safely say that sitting on a table is the same. Unless of course the table you refer to is doing some accelerating of it's own, in which case we would need know if the table is in a rocket being launched to the moon, or in the back of a lorry going up, or down a hill, (it would probably need to be a pretty steep hill).
