MrTim's wheel progress

Post by MrTim »

This is a Gera-size wheel (it was a real pain to build.. ;-)
50 inches in diameter, 4 inches thick (it will be closer to 5 if/when the outer casing is put on.)
The bearing blocks weigh more than the framework(!) and the wheel spins freely on the axle.
The support base was made to fold up so that it could be put in my car.
Also pictured is my esteemed colleague, Professor Goodstuff... ;-)
Still need to build the mechanisms that go inside... ;-)

That's looking good, MrTim!
Professor Goodstuff is also a decent addition to the collection! :)

Its all relative.

LOL, he'd never do that. But he does complain that it's too cramped for him to run along the inside of the rim to turn it... ;-)

Beautiful construction, the best for the future.
Not everything I present is functional, but a surprise can't be completely ruled out.Greetings.

Good luck Mr. Tim for your internal construction.

I am actually installing the wheel in Bad Karlshafen
first run to test the axle
first run to test the axle

The wheel is the basic for the one and the bi-directional wheel.
The moment of inertia of the bidirectional wheel is not yet correct.
The carpenter is working on the internal part.
Maybe I must use some lead.
Best regards

Georg
