Thanks for your thought provoking posts. I am very interested in reading your theory and ideas about the "excess weight". In your previous post I believe you quote from the most recent translation that was provided by John Collins and was done by his translator friend a couple of years ago and posted here on October 22, 2002. That was the first time I saw Bessler's statement: "My theory of excess weight". So you see, looking at new translations is not a waste of time. Your idea that Bessler was not leaving clues but simply stating facts has prompted me to look at that translation. Especially the line :"NO, these weights are themselves the PM device, the ‘essential constituent parts’ which must of necessity continue to exercise their motive force (derived from the PM principle)". Could Bessler have been talking about excess force instead of excess weight? The only "motive force" a common weight will exert has, as you point out, been explored without success. Therefore, is it possible that there was something special about the weights he used? Is there a weight that exerts a force other than that caused gravity, in other words an excess force? The only one that comes to mind is a loadstone or magnet.
