It would seem that the scientific community "concluded" that after no doubt a "large number" of applied tensional arrangements that 2+2=4. And of course they are correct. Yet since you could never say you have explored all the options, the idea of applied tension that "redirected" the force present should have been left open as a possibility, but it was not. This is roughly analagous to having tried a "whole bunch" of combinations to a safe and assuming that there IS no combination that opens the safe, without having tried all the combinations. Perhaps historically speaking the Bessler enigma probably got some people "bent out of shape" due to their inability to figure out a way to do this, adding some arrogant obstinance to their adamant position on the subject.
