I dont know that I'd amuse myself. I think that even in his day there were conspiracy theories, proud and dangerous scientists, and people who would steal ideas. Not that I'm paranoid or the conspiracy theory type but I think Bessler was probably pretty nervous and maybe over time that wore him down and made him a little nutty.

Yes, once you find the solution it does eat at you. You start to think stupid things like "now that I know the secret I'm much more likely to die in a car accident today" and other rediculous things like that.
