The recent development of:

is also simular in concept:
There are also 2 oscillator system:
1. The wheel
2. The pendulum inside.

Now they use the trick, that lifting the weights at the top
will also force the pendulum to store this energy in height
of the pendulum swing.
With the next swing of the pendulum, it will have force
to lift the next weight at the top.
Also here applies:
the 2 oscillating systems must be synchronized for the right frequency, so the whole system can turn on.
So the weight of the pendulum and thus the swing frequency must be fitted to the rotation speed of the wheel !

One problem I see with his system:
the lower left arm of the pendulum sticks the weights
out at about 6 to 7 pm (comparing with a clock).
This must not be.
The pendulum weight should move free at the buttom !
The upper arm of the pendulum will transfer enough energy
to the pendulum to keep it swinging.
