NOT if there was no weight on either end, or if the weight on either end was equal and equidistant, and it could turn freely. Not possible. If you were right, then the old fashioned 'balance beam' scale(like the ones held by images of blindfolded 'lady justice') would be totally useless. The reason they work is because a HEAVIER weight tips the scale;otherwise, they remain LEVEL. That's how levers work.

: : No, you missunderstand me-if the lever's at an angle, it WILL move. It's only at rest when it's horrizontal. Ever see an empty see-saw just after the kids get off? Swings back and forth, and eventually comes to rest in a horrizontal position. Ever seen an empty see-saw resting at an angle?
