Sounds like your grandfather had it together.
I've generally found that most people doing real research on
projects (especially controversial ones) don't usually worry
about what others may think of their work, because they are
into that one mindset and it can become obsession. I'm not
critical of anyone's efforts to reproduce this device, in fact
I was amazed at how many people are working on the proto's
and designs to do it.
