: "You are still trying to find ways of unnaturally raising one thing higher than another thing. You cannot drop 1 lb down 1 ft to raise a different 1 lb up 1.1 ft... I know it's tempting to try, but that's not the answer."
: I think Bessler himself would have disagreed with you:

You can think whatever you like but thousands of designs employ this lifting more than you drop idea and none of them work. I don't have to even defend the idea. You're simply not going to find OU by breaking that physical law... but have fun trying :-)

: " A great craftsman would be that man who can "lightly" cause a heavy weight to fly upwards! Who can make a pound-weight rise as 4 ounces fall, or 4 pounds rise as 16 ounces fall. If he can sort that out, the motion will perpetuate itself."
: [Apologia]

Yes, I agree with Bessler's statement... but this statement does NOT say that he achieved this, it simply states that if it were possible to raise more than dropped it would create perpetual motion and make you a great craftsman. Bessler doesn't say he did this.

: He goes on to 'taunt' Wagner along these lines - I think he had seen something we are all missing:
: "Even Wagner, wherever he is now, will have heard that ONE POUND CAN CAUSE THE RAISING OF MORE THAN ONE POUND. He writes that, to date, no one has ever found a mechanical arrangement sufficient for the required task. He's right! So am I, and does anyone see why? What if I were to teach the proper method of mechanical application? Then people would say: "Now I understand!"
: Food for thought Darren?

Not really. You're reading things into his statements that aren't necessarily there, kind of like how different people have their own idea of what "children play among the pillars with hammers" means. As far as this statement above goes... I too can easily raise 10 pounds with 1 pound... but only a tenth as high :-)

I have no doubts that I know the answer and I understand Bessler's riddles... but I won't argue about it here anymore, I'll finish the prototype and settle it that way :-)

Thanks for the comments!
Darren
