Hi Grim,

I'm sorry to be so vague but the fact is I don't know. As you point out Karl is the only one to see the inside the wheel and he never mentioned anything about what he saw, other than that it was simple. Yes its possible but I don't know.

I don't remember the stuff about a roller bearing, allJB ever said was that the machine ran on bearings, usually with the top removed for easy visual access. I don't think there was anything special about the bearings. With JBV's experience he would probably have copies what he saw on mill wheel bearings, or hydraulic pumps or water wheels.

"Pounds Sterling" and "GB Pounds" are the same as far as I know, and currently worth about $1.65 or

: Hello John

: JB mentions that his parts are "enclosed in a case", and on Don Simanek's "Unworkable Devices" site, he claims that those who saw inside saw many compartments for weights. I'm not going to beat a dead horse about this because Karl was apparently the only observer of the wheel's guts. Is it possible, in your opinion, that there may have been a "case" for each mech?
: Also in the "Little Book " interpretation on Alden Park's site, JB goes on and on about his "Offyrean Roller Bearing". Does your research indicate that he really came up with the bearing, or is it just one of his eloquent dissertations?

: One last one, what is the difference between "Pound Sterling" and the "Great Britain Pound"? Not familiar with your monetary terms.

: Thanks much
