: If you do not plan to patent the machine, then I must confess that I do not understand your motive for secrecy about what you are doing. Generally, the purpose of secrecy is to reserve an advantage for one self. There may be some exceptions to this, but they are rare, and I can only speculate which, if any, may apply to you.

An advantage, yes, certainly, but there are other alternatives to patents. Licensing, the outright sale of an idea and then let the buyer patent... etc. A patent is simply used as a litigation tool if someone attempts to copy and profit from your invention... a patent does not guarantee that an idea works or that an idea is even valuable to anyone. On the flipside an idea can still be valuable if it's not under patent.

: I note that you have not explained your motives beyond some vague plan of "convincing the most skeptical person you can find" and then perhaps springing the discovery upon the world, becoming famous, etc, etc, etc.

Actually I have, although I don't recall if it was on this list or on the free_energy yahoo group... but basically it boils down to this... I love puzzles, challenges, brain teasers. I approached this whole thing as though it was possible, but just very difficult.

After learning more about the whole FE world it became apparent to me that it would be, if possible, a very valuable invention. Sort of like the prize offered for the first person to get Linus running on an Xbox without the use of a mod chip, or some of the prizes offered in the math world for solutions to age old high level math equations.

I don't want to be filthy rich... I don't want to rule the world... I'm not out to screw up the world markets... I'm not even interested in being famous... I am just out to solve a puzzle, for my own benefit, for my own satisfaction, and then to collect a small prize for solving it. That's all. And if I publish it for free on the internet then I may not get the credit for solving it, may not be able to collect the prize, so i need to keep it to myself... and I feel that until I build a working model I haven't fully solved it so... there you go. No ulterior motives... no secret agendas... no weirdness.

: Like I said before, even if you DO have a working device, I think you will be exceedingly disapointed at the reaction of the world to your "revelation" of the "secret".

Oh, I have no allusions... I know it won't be well received. But I see a balance... I can think of lots of people this would piss off... and I can think of lots of people who would seriously profit from it... I can see something like this changing the world... for better in many ways and for worse in some ways. I only see one thing that sways me towards actually doing it... and that's the fact that humans have been fighting and killing each other since time began for the resources that will help them survive. If we have a surplus then there's some fighting from greed, but if there's a shortage you *really* see the fighting start because survival is such a strong motivator. If energy was "free" then it certainly wouldn't solve all the world's problems, but I think it definitely would help more than hurt. I think it's worth it.

: As for conspiracies, I am not convinced that they exist, but neither am I convinced that free energy or perpetual motion exists either.

That's a fair and reasonable statement. And I will admit that my design may be faulty, and that FE may not not possible... I will also admit that if it is possible it may have been surpressed... however, I think that's very unlikely.

: I most certainly am not convinced that YOU have discovered "the answer".

That's also a fair statement.

:I will concede that it may be possible, though, and I wish you luck if you are truely sincere in your efforts.

Thanks! Good talking with you!

Later,
Darren
