Hi John. Thanks for the prompt reply. Yes, I am trying to determine if the construction was like a hatbox with a solid side and oilcloth covered open side or if, as I now from your information provided believe it is, a disk fabricated from planks, cut into a circle, and segements centered on the disk's rim and probably nailed or screwed with a circular ring attached to each edge of the segmented rim (both sides) to keep them in place and from walking. I don't believe that he went to the trouble to put true spokes inside the device, and he must have used a wooden collar larger than the axle shaft (both sides) to make a good mechanical contact between the shaft and the suspected disk. That, in my opinion, would be the easist way to keep the mech straight on the shaft so it didn't wobble, also would provide a good mechanical coupling as it could be screwed or bolted to the disk (or whatever) and then pinned or bolted to the shaft.
Thanks again, Bessler's detractor's input is just as valuable as his protagonists'.
