I have often wondered about this and whether a patent would get through to the final stage. I don't know if this is true but I've been told that the UK's DERA (Defence Evaluation and Research Agency) have an office at the UK Patent Office for just such scrutiny and that all patent applications routinely pass through their office before going on to the final stage. Anyone now if this is true?

All the screen told me was I did not have an authorization to get in. Got a friend in the mil that tells me "Wheeler" is an underground files facility. This wheel recreation is a controversial energy project, and I believe that when whomever rediscovers the working principle, the patent appl. will be sent over to NSA or DOD for scrutiny to see if it's in the National Interest.
: All patents are subject to this scrutiny and are returned to the USPTO if determined that they are "harmless". Otherwise they can be determined to be a detriment to National Security or Interest and you're done. If you get the full patent appl. data you can read this for yourself. Guess they figure with the pool of talent and expertise that's working on this problem that someone
: will solve it, and they're probably getting a head start on names, data, etc. They have the authority nowadays to do that, you know. This thing ifdone will never make it thru the second patent stage before its confiscated.
