You're absolutely correct on the patents comments, John. That's why I shared that site I found.
All a patent does is give you the right to sue someone (individual or corporate entiy) if they use your ideas without contract and/or compensation. If they want something, and they have corporate attorneys on their payroll, they simply run you (the little guy) out of money in attorney fees.
It's just an expensive way to insure you could be a legal litigant if need be.
