further explanation
My idea has 4 or 8 of the rod/weight assemblies.
they do not go right across the wheel as per your sketch.
the axle has a grindstone or flywheel mounted on it.
the flywheel has ,say, an iron band around it with mounting lugs(see my drg from a few months ago[but not the weight assy's])the rods pivot/hang off these lugs.
Also the poem you quote says something like "the sear sees" correct me if i'm wrong but a sear is a soothsayer type person, but is also used as a contemporary term for a latch or catch mechanism!(the catch i drew is from a gun trigger mechanism and is labeled 'sear/trigger'). Also clock and watch escapement parts are very similar.....
Is it possible to 'store' gravity or torque in a spring, or time retard the phase?, question questions......and just what is that pendulum thing on the outside of besslers wheels? is it necessary?, is it latching /unlatching the internals?, it looks like it would only do half a 'swing' per rev as drawn?
and were do the secondary weights come in(THE real problem)?, dammit I havnet got any pulleys in it yet either....running out of room..6m dia wheel anyone? lol...........
what I like about my ideas(oh..) is a poss explanation for hiding the weight ends, the noises of scraping while operating, the 'priming' noise on a spring when installing the weights for the first run, the sears, er, thats it....lost my thread.....
Regardz
J
