I call it variable/oscillatory leverage , due to gravity unbalance on the same side of the fulcrum.
You can play this general concept as you like , or as you can imagine : with a simple "cut" of this design ( you need two masses, only! ) and a suitable size , can we hope for a nice "baby-toy" ?!

Really , your address is correct. With an appropriate size , in my opinion , he is so close to a gravity self-working unbalanced lever(age).
By the way: how about your models/experiments? (Perpetual motion wheel project-part 2,especially)

They are going very well and I believe I have the mechanism needed for the wheel of death. I will have it finished next week. I had to build a newer test unit to accommodate the device. The other machines have a lot of parts. But having to make money is my main distraction. For I have to have a surplus before the end of march for I have a scheduled operation for my severe Carpal tunnel on my left wrist and then after that. They will do my right and fix the torn cartilage as well. Then soon I will see when they will fix the tron cartilage in my right knee and baker cyst problem in both knees. Despite that I am still kicking. LOL ouch!!

New to this thread, like the lever idea. I've come across many of these kinds of inherently unstable systems in experiments, but obviously they can't generate energy, though some might possibly turn a few bucks as desktop 'executive toys'.
One i particularly liked is attached below - it features two small unbalanced scissorjacks, with their fulcrums and apices sharing alternate co-axle shafts.
There's several simple variations of this setup, some of which, given a little initial PE, build up some exciting dynamism.. and with low enough friction, would doubtless convice some they were actually gaining energy as the rotors accelerate up to impressive speeds...

Here's another one - playing two identical leverage ratios off against each other.
One's a 3:1 balance beam, but fixed across it is a pulley bearing weights in a 3:1 ratio.
WM goes nuts trying to figure out where the equilibrium should be - even with air resitance enabled. Damn thing just. won't. keel...

...same again... two pendulums of enequal length, with a horizontal rod connecting the bobs, and both hung from a wheel. Every equilibrium point restores the system's PE, so it just keeps going.
Just when you think it must've exhausted itself, it all kicks off again (this will run across many simulation cycles)

Final example (sorry if i've derailed the thread slightly):
This one's a simple lever, as-is, heavier on the left side, which duly keels.
However, if the rigid joint keeping the center weight at the center of rotation is removed (just delete it), the right side is now heavier - causing the two larger weights to rise.
There's precious little motion from it one way or the other; the only striking characteristic is the apparent shifting of the center of gravity merely by unlocking the rigid joint.
I could never understand why this should happen - i've come back to it many times over the last couple of years, but it has me completely stumped...
Props to anyone who can explain it.
