The above video is a clear illustration of 3rd derivative energy in action.

After all, the meccano carriage is not moving itself , is it.

It's action is purely inertial. It is the precession (jerk) of the offset-gyro (OG) which is driving the carriage backward and forward.

Presumably if the carriage was made even lighter so that it's inertial resistance was reduced even more then the carriage would travel even further.

Moreover, it could be driven up a slight incline on one side and continue up a similar incline on the other. This process could be continued with the OG rising higher and higher until the gyro runs down from air and bearing friction losses

I believe that in raising his large handheld gyro Laithwaite only provided inertial resistance as in the case of the meccano carriage demonstration. If so then the action of the OG is analogous to the action of the VentoMobil where the wind action acts against a hierarchy of orthogonal (nearly) inertial resistances.

The crucial question is, did the energy of lift come from run down of the gyro - or was there additional energy provided by the Newtonian gravitational wind.

And if there is energy from the Newtonian wind will it be sufficient to overcome losses. I believe the answer is yes since it is sufficient to overcome losses in the Bessler wheel.

Now this demo' is better than the Eric's x-mass version.

I say this as placing a gyro on semi-melted ice is not a good method.

To answer a questions that members should have requires some measurements.

We would appreciate the data.

1. Mass of the trolley.
2. Mass of the gyro rode.
3. Length of the rode.
4. Axile length of the gyro.
5. Mass of the gyro.
6. Displacement distance of the trolley.
7. Rotation rate of the procession.

You can see these measurements help check the CF generated.

hypothetically a rotating non-spinning gyro should generate the same CF.

This is an 'Off-Topic' 'Off-Topic' comment alert

Pendulum like arm rotating horizontally from left to right causing forward motion.

Pendulum returning to start position via vertically rotation.

Would that work to get the results we want?

Two counter rotational Pendulum would be useful - of cause.

If you have 4 pendulum out of phase by a quarter then
you can implement this magnetic effect in a physical form.

That will produce forward momentum. [energy not included].

Power Ball Gyroscope - very odd thing?

I just fixed one and it reminds me of the top in the toy page.

The other thought was the toy page top inverting should be due
to the same reason inverted pendulums work.

Just a thought.

Hi agor95,
the toy Page is representing a Top heavy pendulum. Look at the size of the Figures.
Here you have also to reverse your thinking, you must extract energy so that it Can reswing again. The lost is your gain!!!

With a simulation of a friction less spinning top as see on the toy page.

The question would be; Does the net spin reduce when the center of gravity goes up?

Does this happen during the spinning top inversion?

The default is YES - However has this ever been tested?
