Maybe it is an idea to add a cam shape to the cart to optimize where the pendulum grips on the slider, like a gear involute.

A rough example.
In blue, a proposed overbalanced path where the pendulums (dark grey) pushes the sliders (red) upwards touches at the green dots.
I didn't let the cam-weight (red) follow that path exactly - it's to convey the idea.

Just reminded another thing that might be beneficial for keeping the dimensions circular, while it shouldn't have a (net) effect on its operation.
Those pendulums can be restricted by a rope with the length the same size as the radius of the wheel, and connect this second rope to or close to the axle. (be careful they can rotate freely, and not over-twist somehow)
As such it will lift those pendulums up when they tend to peep below the drum.
In that way you can enclose your wheel with side panels.

It should have no side effects on those pendulums, nor add any additional torque to the wheel *1
Actually, dragging around pendulums across the wheel led me to my first post on this forum. https://www.besslerwheel.com/forum/view ... 3937#13937

*1 Add:
Well, that's not entirely true. On the whole rotation it may have no effect, but restricting the pendulums does have its effects temporarily.

Counterfeiter.
In blue, a proposed overbalanced path
if the path of the slider weight is from
9 to 3 (turning clockwise) then any gain from 3 to 6 is going to be returned from 6 to 9. I
know I'm no expert, but the sum of the cosines from 0 to 180 equals 0. If this wheel could
work, it would produce no work.

If the proposed blue path could be followed, that would be a marked improvement. Then
some work could happen.

The demo link below shows the four pendulum rotating around a disc.
I have supplied a static image of the view seen when you link.

However the linked model is in 3 dimension allowing you too move the camera direction.
The model rotates a full 360 as you watch.

A good reason for liking Calloway's Gravity Wheel is it's accessibility.

A design where there is no need for ropes, springs, gears or magnets.

So building can be done by many - accessed by many.

The task to bias the weights to the down side is understood.

The math is less of an issue as complex objects are not required.

The interplay of forces during a wheel rotation is also understandable to many.

Agor95, I like the model you have started on the design. I hope that the program will allow you to add the natural path of the pendulums when completed. I think this is very important to see where the power of the wheel is coming from. I have argued with myself about the pendulums swinging or swing. Another thought is the swing from centrifugal force or the wheel pulling them around causing them to swing in on the left side and out on the right side in a cw rotation OR is it a combination of both? When the pendulum swing is naturally in on the left side, there is alot of stored energy in that weight to move the weighted pair right that I can see. Anyhow, all thoughts are welcomed. Cheers

I am glad you like the demo.

The good thing about a software model is we can check out different options without wasting physical build time.

Your contribution should have a name. I think it should be called a 'Calloway GW' like 'Segway PT' [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Segway].

One should name things for the future. Also it saves typing.

The more members join in to build examples the better.

A simple bicycle wheel could be used as a base frame.

That is the first question all ask each other.

Well it is on the ToDo list.

Silent, Well you certainly have the idea correct in your mind now. When someone gets a wheel up and running and measurements can be taken, this formula should give us the answer in pendulum energy in joules. The formula for the energy of motion is KE = .5 × m × v2 where KE is kinetic energy in joules, m is mass in kilograms and v is velocity in meters per second. This will tell us how the wheel is performing and why in my humble opinion. Cheers

Silent,

Are you still in the process of building this Calloway and do you intend to share your research results?

Yes. I'm in the process of completing redesigning the slider weight pairs. I'm having too many problems with the blocks. The parts should be in Monday, but it is so hot right now. I just can't stand these 100 degree days inside of my metal shop. I will show a photo of the finished design when I am satisfied with it. My video will wait until someone else has this design working. I will not be first. Cheers

The demo is running on your PC.

I stopped it running as I do not know the capabilities of all the potential viewer's computers.

I will up it to a few more seconds.

By increasing the time you may fall out of your chair because you become mesmerized.

So I will slow the rate of rotation.

If you see the 'Calloway GW' rotating back after it stops then you have been mesmerized.
