The question; would a stick that is water repellent raise up more than one that is not treated?

Interesting opinion which means the stick is floating in the water sticking to, pardon me, the stick.

Testing will show of cause. I go with the idea the water height within the glass hoop [5mm] causing the water level going up. Then the stick [1mm] floating to that new level.

I can also appreciate if the stick is repellent then the stick will not be floating in the same height of water. Therefore what is it floating in - air. I think not.

But if the stick is repelling water down around the stick then is it not being push up with an equal and opposite force?

Just a notion

If the hoop was a tube [5mm] gap with the stick [1mm] within.
Then sucking the air out would raise the water level as the water enters from a bowl of water.

One would expect the water pressure in the tube to drop and the stick to float less as the water level goes up.
