Re: Zeroing in on Bessler's wheel
Yes jb, that's it. Good, very good! Excellent!
What can I say, it's just as I imagined it. Now to convert it to Iron-----------Sam
ETA, The little blue ring in the center could go away. And thanks jb
thanks for your efforts----------

Maybe I've got it right this time-----------------Sam

Bonjour Sam,
J'examine votre concept et vois si je peus en faire une Sim.
Hi Sam,
I look at your concept and see if I can make it a Sim.

Sam, Resultat de la Sim:
Les poids jaune ont la densité de l'or et les poids gris ont la densité de la pierre.
Vu la fiabilité d'Algodoo je laisse confirmer le résultat par d'autres utilisateurs!!!
Sam, Sim Results:
Yellow weights have the density of gold and grey weights have the density of stone.
Given the reliability of Algodoo I let confirm the result by other users!!

Re: Zeroing in on Bessler's wheel
HI SHADOW,
Great, thanks, that's the idea of it. It should rotate in either direction; always top heavy. I'll build it and see if it will work. I think it's fit's with the known descriptions of his wheel------------------Sam
ETA Thanks SHADOW, thanks for your help.

One things fore sure.
My wheel is being shunned, even with excellent and detailed drawings of it--------------Sam

Hello Sam
You are correct your illustrations are well done and play a part in putting forward your concept.
Your concept would require some effort to fabricate or simulate.
Also the maths modelling would be complex.
Then your design does beyond Bessler's Clues.
P.S. These are facts of the matter IMO and are not for or against your concept.
Regards

Re: Zeroing in on Bessler's wheel
Replication of Bessler's wheel continues. Just my version of it that is.
Completed the Rings and Rollers. The new design is rolling smoothly; with seemingly little or no friction. I can hardly believe it; considering all the difficulty that I've had in the past. The storks bills will have one stage only, on either side of the fixed pivot point, in order to reverse the direction of force, (in a straight line).
There will be a ball bearing slider out on the rim of the wheel to support the weights,(and the outer end of the SB), the weights that drive the wheel that is. And a link from the center of the roller cross-bar to work the storks bills----------------Sam

yes Agor I have good wood working skills and welding too. But I don't have a wood lathe.

Hi Norman
So far I recently created a cross bar device which can fit on a table.
You would have too clamp it down.
Imagine your desk top device is in a box on the table before you.
What would be the dimension's of the box in millimetres?
Well I have made 3 wooden object/devices in my life. So it looks like you have two skills up on me.nebollinger wrote: ↑Mon Apr 22, 2024 5:30 pm yes Agor I have good wood working skills and welding too. But I don't have a wood lathe.

Re: Zeroing in on Bessler's wheel
Completed the sliders.
They are common kitchen drawer sliders, modified to fit onto the wheel. Stroke is two inches, with a max radius of 24 inches when extended. The weights, driving weights, are one pound each.
Next the storks bills / reversing links or inverters. They are needed to invert the downward force of the rollers to an upward directions. A big difference is; lifting or shifting the weights up and out at 12:00. Which means the wheel can rotate in either direction, always being top heavy. The lifting phase occurs when the rollers are horizontal.
Another change is the shape and size of the rollers. Before they were large thin heavy disks impossible to guide. Now they are in the shape of a big can of tuna fish, with two in each ring or pipe. No special guiding required. Now it's like a little car with 4 big weights for wheels. What a difference this has made. Each roller is 2 1/2 lbs., for a total weight of 10 pounds.
Maybe, I've made the right choices----------------Sam

Re: Zeroing in on Bessler's wheel
Update,
Finished the wheel; still not going. However, I think there is a way to fix it. I painted it blue and yellow for Ukraine------------------------Sam
