dradford, This is what I think is unique with this design. The pendulums are not transferring their weight or taking from the slider weight because they make contact from the side of the pendulums. No weight is transferred between the two. The pendulums touch nothing on the wheel except the slider weight at the glove. So the wheel is undisturbed an keeps turning as normal. I'm seeing some interesting things from this wheel. Cheers

Connected weights in a fast spinning wheel may want to stay in their position due Centrifugal force. More effort would be required to shift them than one might expect.

justsomeone, It won't spin fast. 40 to 50 RPM tops. The speed of gravity is rather slow at the earths surface.

Here is a free pendulum simulator that may be useful - unfortunately it doesn't measure forces at the pivot, which is what I'm looking for.

The force transmitted through a rod that might hurt your hand is a vibration that is damped in a cord. The gravitational pull on a cord is the same as it would be on a rod. So the pivot would experience the same force in either case.
Calloway's design rests on the pendulums lifting themselves (inward against centrifugal force, not gravity since they are balanced by the opposite pendulums) in the 6-9 quadrant. Dradford's animation is not an accurate picture, imo.

eccentrically1, So the mistake is, the pendulums don't swing in at at 7:00 or 8:00. Correct? Cheers

eccentrically1, Turn out? Completely wrong. Oscillate? You need to get a wheel with pendulums and actually see how they act. Don't put anything else on the wheel. Just pendulums. Dradford made a animation that is close enough for folks to get a good idea how the design works. It's certainly not perfect. But maybe it helped some. Cheers
