I doubt that anyone knew of Karl’s slow payment, it was only evident in Bessler’s letter to him.

According to my cockamamie unproven theory we need an impact to harvest CF.

And of course the impacts are displayed front and center in MT138.

B also said the weights gain force from their own swinging - this is a perfect definition for CF!

I know if I was composing the arrangement of the Toy's Page (in my secret MT book) I couldn't help but put the important stuff front and center of the page ! That's what compositions do, draw your eye in to the main feature. Give it a focal point and then apply radial perspective etc etc., if you want to go that far. Just about all artists do this in one form or another. IOW's the center of the page is prime realestate, compared to some margin doodle for example, in an unpublished book held by B. IMO ! C & D hammermen take center stage and are front and center as you say.

It might have been known though John. The rich and powerful have historically abused their power. In those days if any had a complaint against a noble they'd do well to keep their mouth shut. The agents of a noble would give you a court date years in the future and detain you to be sure you'd show up.

Put in other terms they'd lock you up and throw away the key.

Slow to pay and no pay are common tactics of nobles.

Well, thinking on that side of it, could their statements have been designed to set everybody’s pants on fire trying to duplicate it and to sell more books where there were “clues”?
Maybe B put such such high price on it to discourage a sale?

Selling books to a mostly illiterate population doesn't sound like a good plan to me.

VERY interesting you should mention this Fletch - in my sim so far I believe to have found the "small impressed force" that starts the motion but the real trick is if we can employ CF and of course the impacts to shift the weights from outer track to inner track and back again.

And crazy enough I believe that is what the MT138 hammer toy is showing us - the impacts causing the weights to shift track, first shifting one way then the other.

This is where the gravity only designs always lose imo because they are fighting inertia and CF to move the weights in and out resulting in a zero sum game.

I am not predicting anything here just studying the feasibility of using CF and impacts to actually shift the weights!

One nutty thing I have already discovered is that you don't even need a wheel in the sim - just a fixed impact point for the weights to bounce off of - the wheel is just an afterthought!

I'm sorry, I don't have a single word to describe the "wheel". But what I do have is this; It's not really a wheel. It can be any shape you like!

I will post these examples with the mechanisms hidden with a yellow ring, because I'm building it at the moment. So now you are warned and can skip this post.

It works with a mechanism mounted at the end of a lever, and will get the hole thing to turn without any weigths. The minimum required mechanisms are 5. The more levers with this mechanism you add, the more powerfull, and of course bigger, "the wheel" will get.

In this simulation example (with 8 levers), I have the one without weights to the left, and the one with weights to the right. Of course the one with weights moves faster and is more powerful.

At 1:08 I stop the "wheels" and remove gravity (the "apple button" I press at the buttom). The "wheel" wont move when I start it again, so it's gravity dependent! At 1:42 I turn gravity on again, and the "wheels" start turning.
