I said I wasn'toin to do this, but the reason murilo's machine won't work is because there is really no imbalance in the system. On side seems to be heavier but that is counterbalnced by the fact that the seemingly lesser side has to work harder to expand the weights to make them "lesser" in the first p[lace.
