Leibniz was of the opinion that some "physical principle" was at work within Bessler's wheel. He felt that because the power of the wheel was very limited for its size and because PM is highly improbable, there must be some physical explanation behind Bessler's obviously amazing demonstrations.
I think Bessler's wheel was an overbalanced wheel with, possibly, an added reaction component to explain the high rotation speeds. I don't think the internal weights were lifted by gravity because gravity seems to act as a conservative field (no evidence to support any other conclusion). But rather the weights were lifted by force derived from some other energy source that is triggered by the nature and movement of the weight/mechanism itself.
My speculation page remains under construction while my efforts are directed towards MT.
