No *Lol*, I know what you think I'm getting at, here;trust me, I know better than that. It's pretty much common sense why leverage alone doesn't work. I DO have a few, ahem, ideas, but no more posting them until I have a chance to do some real, accurate testing of at least the basic premisses.:-D I'm not suggesting any particular design here. All I'm saying is that when you have a situation where it doesn't matter how high or low a given weight is, there is probably that nature's trying to tell you.:-)

: : Hang two equal weights from each end of a lever, equidistant from the falcrum, and the lever will rest at vertical, because the cog is below the pivot, right? Now, what seems worth noting to me is that it doesn't matter HOW low the weights are hung;the right one could be hung six inches down and the left one twelve inches, or the reverse, and the lever will still be ballanced. Now, shouldn't this strike us as significant, that regarding half the problem of a gravity-driven device-balance-another half of the problem-the relative heights of the weights involved-is, as long as the weights are below the center of rotation, suddenly NOT AN ISSUE? At least worth giving us pause, I think. ;-)

: Joel,

: You're going down the same road that every other OU proponant has travelled at one time or anouther through history... in vain...

: You are still trying to find ways of unnaturally raising one thing higher than another thing. You cannot drop 1 lb down 1 ft to raise a different 1 lb up 1.1 ft... I know it's tempting to try, but that's not the answer.
