Although I'm new to this site, it has already been great fun trying to solve this "riddle".
There was a TV program a while ago about the guy who solved Fermat's Last theorem, which had defied mathematicians for over 300 years. One of the number theorists interviewed said he was a little sad that it had been solved because it had always been there as a challenge.
It made me think that this might be true for us. Then again, Bessler built at least two types of wheel (uni- and bi-directional), so there should always be something for us to work on.
