I think Ranier is correct. The distance from weight center to pivot point center, and the distance from the pivot point center to the weight edge formed part of the second-class lever. As long as you scale those distances up or down, you should be ok.
The material used I believe was moot, as long as levered ratio is the same, i.e., 1.5 lbs/6oz., 3/4 lb./3oz., etc etc.
I think Smithy used brass, but you can check with him.
