Cowlishaw gravity wheel

I saw fleetingly mentioned some where here David Cowlishaw's GIT for possible use as a gravity powered wheel. I have made a few tiny changes to the basic design to increace eff., and feel that it should work, but no matter how hard I try, I can't model it (on paper) dynamically. I want to know waht you all think. If I had the time and money, I'd just build it and see, for now I can only see it work in my head.
