Very true, very true, but good software will factor in *almost* everything... and it will most likely factor in more things than most people will remember on their own. Also, the cost of experimenting with multiple physical models can be prohibitive, hence the main reason the software even exists in the first place.

Oh, by the way, I'm *not* a WM2D salesman :-) I've just made some seriously huge leaps forward since I've been using it... it's been immensely helpful in finding the flaws in a couple designs that otherwise would have taken weeks to find.


: And don't forget that Bessler didn't have all the calculus, trigonometry, and analytical mechanics information that we have now... But he had the best tools of all: A brain (software) and hands (for building hardware).


Yes, you're right, it's not required... but sim software *does* help you get things done faster. Narrows things down quite a bit. It reportedly took Bessler ten years to arrive at a solution... I'd like to get it done in less time than that :-)
