: : Bessler described screwing _bolts which regulated the motion in and out of the axle to allow his one-way wheel (Draschwitz wheel)to work_ and even says that witnesses and friends enjoyed operating the bolts. The bolts were used to slow down and stop and secure the wheel.
: _Are you describing a "braking" mechanism, or is this a reference to the _inside_ of the wheel?_
:
: I think cord was used _in_ the first wheel and maybe as an extra security feature to tie the wheels down when not being used.
: _Do you mean "within" or "for"?_
I meant that the cord was used outside the wheel to tie it down to stop it moving. Perhaps the bolts made it irrelevant.
